Ken is a Retired Ex- Chief Systems Engineer for large aerospace company, Chief Architect for Digital Map Systems (including C130J Hercules) – he developed all the algorithms using Delphi and OpenGL. Now he has a small consultancy for Delphi, Digital maps and whatever else comes along.

Code: Spent too much time trying to avoid getting stuck on obstacles (doesn’t report BOT_OBSTACLED reliably when blocked), and not enough on a real strategy. Main strategy is to look ahead for something “interesting”, and if that fails scan to either side. Pursue enemy only if there is enough ammo left to make it worthwhile. If nothing else to do, head for the last place that we found health, rails or rockets. Jump and crawl at various times to try and avoid getting hit. If hit, move away faster.

Challenges: He would have liked enough time (or documentation) to understand the effect of things like “sensitivity”; Instead he was working “blind” for many of the parameters. He only use 0 for elevation, because he didn’t get time to experiment with what effect other values might have. He did find it addictive and spent some hours tweaking the bot to try and see what effect small changes had.
