Ramon has been working as a software developer for Retalix, Inc. for almost 2 years now. Retalix develops software for the grocery, retail, restaurant, and convenience store industries. They have software solutions for everything from warehousing and purchasing down to the check-out line, including pricing, ordering, and inventory management. Before Retalix, he developed engineering software for almost 15 years.

Ramon’s bot’s name is SteelDragon which was the name he used when he played Unreal Tournament several years ago. Since he only has been able to work on the code for about 8 hours, it is far from perfect. Just like in playing Unreal Tournament, his first step was to get his robot turning, moving, and jumping to make it hard to hit. Next he added code to search for my enemy and shoot at him when he comes into his sights. Lastly, he added code to look for the ammunition and health recharges when he needed them. The most difficult problem was to develop some type of algorithm that would allow my bot to move over the entire map so he could locate the recharges while continuously moving. Unfortunately he doesn’t believe he had enough time to add anything truly unique. He just tried to cover all of the bases, keep moving, shoot at his enemies, and grab the ammunition and health recharge when he got the chance.
